How can perform Expdp with consistent=y

October 22, 2010 | By

Hi Friends,

After introducing DATAPUMP, there are lot of confusion occurring. One of those confusion is how to perform export using EXPDP (datapump) like exp consistent=y.

Because in export when we are using consistent=y, there would be very chance to get ORA-01555 snapshot too old error in live database. In 24*7 running database active DML are being performed by any end users while we are performing export of database. Means if we want take consistent image of database in export backup then we should need to specify exp consistent=y command.

Now onwards, in Oracle 10g new feature Datapump is introduced. There is no parameter called “consistent” available in EXPDP command of datapump. Because new concept is also developed called “flashback”. Using this flashback parameter we can perform same as consistent=y withe expdp utility for taking our logical backup.

Command for performing as follows.

expdp system/passwd directory=flsh dumpfile=user001_2.dmp logfile =user001_2.log schemas=usr001 flashback_time=”TO_TIMESTAMP (TO_CHAR (SYSDATE, ‘YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS’), ‘YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS’)”

Using above parameter flashback_time and setting up present time (time of taking expdp), it will act just as exp with consistent=y.
