February 12, 2010 | By

Hi Friends,

Server Control utility is available for Oracle RAC management.

We are using srvctl utility to perform configuration on cluster environment for storing configuration data in the server management configuration repository. SRVCTL uses SQL*Plus to perform stop and start activities on each node. Server Management configuration repository stores all components like SRVCTL,GSD (Global Services Daemon), Enterprise Manager’s Intelligent agent etc.

2 types of operations can perform using SRVCTL command utility of Oracle RAC.

1. Cluster Database tasks
2. Cluster Database Configuration tasks.

Usage of SRVCTL commands for Cluster database as follows.

Starts/stops cluster databases.
Starts/stops cluster database instances.
Starts/stops listeners associated with a cluster database instance.
Gets status of a cluster database instance.
Gets status of listeners associated with a cluster database.

Usage of SRVCTL commands for Cluster database Configuration as follows.

Add/delete cluster database configuration information.
Add/delete an instance from a cluster database.
Renames (Modify) an instance name in a cluster database configuration.
Moves instances in a cluster database configuration.
Set/unset the environment variable for an instance in a cluster database configuration.
Set/unset the environment variable for an entire cluster in a cluster database configuration.

Thanks and regards,
Rajesh Dave
